Removing the main spring tube from the stock

3 posts in this topic

Does any one have any suggestions on how to do this? I am attempting to swap stocks and need to take the mainspring tube out of my old stock but can't seem to get it to budge. I don't want to damage the old stock and I don't know how durable the tube is. My first thought it to try and find a similar sized dowel and drive it out, but I don't know if itll damage the tube by attempting to do so

Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Thank you,

 Neil

Remember, the tube does not pull out of the butt of the stock, it comes out the front.  Unscrew the cap screw until it only engages 1/8 if the threads in the tube.  Remove the screws and key which stabilize the tube in the stock.   Then tap the cap screw to loosen the tube.  If it loosens, remove the cap screw and  pull / push it out.  If it does not loosen with a few taps, abandon the attempt (unless you want to wreck the stock) and buy a new tube.
