18” Johnson Barrel on eBay

Is this a legit 18” Johnson Barrel?   It has some markings that seem suspect.

Torrey, that is a good question. While the .30-06 stamp seems correct, it seems in the wrong place, should be on the barrel bushing, the JA 1950 sort of hints of a barrel rework, possibly by/at Johnson Automatics at a later date (1950).

The  barrel clearly has been turned down to allow the bayonet lug to be installed on the much shorter barrel. 

I would, however, question the sellers claim of "mint condition" or any reference to USMC.

However, I would wait for Joe Scott or Brian Alpert or other  knowledgeable user to reply.

I think I worked on this short barrel years ago. It had a ramp sight and extreme muzzle blast on a sporter.  Young owner bought one of my new barrels and probably sold this one.  Not factory original.
