Off Topic but need help with a Kraig rifle

A few threads back there was a discussion that included Kraig rifles.

A member also collected these rifles and was rather knowledgeable about them.

A friend has a 1898, i believe, that was Granddaddy sportered and now needs a safety and the spring and detent.

I'm hoping that member can help me find these parts. The usual suspects for parts seem to be rather slim on availability.

I am probably the person you are referring to. Actually KRAG, not Kraig. You can post pictures on the Krag Collector's Association forum, KCA, and get some specific recommendations. Pictures can show exactly what you need because there are some differences, especially if the rifle has been sporterized in certain ways. One of the best sources of authentic parts for Krag rifles is www.granpasgunparts.com. Click on the Krag section and search for what you need. There are a couple other sights that have some parts but I would start with pictures on KCA and get proper recommendations.. The gun broker part referred to above is probably not what you want.
