  1. Got the cross pin from a generous member here. Unfortunately numrich won't ship any Johnson rifle parts to Canada because of confusion with the Johnson automatic. Have tried online for about a year including eBay but figured I'd finally post here to see if a collector had spares they would part with. Still missing those two screws though. I am happy to trade for them. I have all kinds of parts for other rifles and lots of good local maple syrup!
  2. Looking for a forend screw, trigger guard wood screw (one closer to the butt), and the front cross pin to make my rifle complete. Can anyone help a fella out? Thanks,
  3. There is a Johnson on the milsurp forum of Canadian Gun Nutz with serial number S-6. No Dutch contract stamp. Does anyone know the history behind the S-serials? Samples right? Early prototypes?
  4. Hi Brian. I am need of a replacement barrel as well. Tried messaging you but your inbox was full.
  5. If you want to get a barrel or another part shipped up here (and the seller either cannot or won't do it) there are import services like Irunguns.ca that specialize in this. Fully legit and professional. The American seller just ships it to their Arizona address - rest is taken care of. I have been buying on gunbroker.com for several years. No SWAT team has busted down my door.
  6. That is amazing that these files still exist. I can't wait to strip this thing tonight and see what matches from when it came off the assembly line on November 8th, 1941.
  7. Thanks Joe. Good luck with the eye surgery and keep me posted on the barrel situation. I think mine is kaput.
  8. Hate to hitchhike on this post, but what about serial number 1533?
  9. I have slugged my barrel and it measures .323 at its smallest. WoW. It completely swallows an 8mm Mauser round at the muzzle end. The previous owner said he fired one 30-06 round in it successfully. Is it possible that it was converted to 8mm-06?
  10. I believe most of the magazine is held firmly in place by the long magazine retaining pin.
  11. Joe says its a metal piece that actually was attached with the forend, and the pin I believe is the front cross pin.
  12. Agree knowledge=power. I ordered those books last week. Did not know about the DVD. What no welcome pack for newbies? I have just about everything taken apart now except the what I would describe as the entire trigger mech assembly. It appears to just slide off the receiver. Not moving at all... but I see a few pins that maybe pop out first? Don't want to pop pins I won't be able to fit back in if this assembly does not come off. Actually this seems like a simple rifle to take apart. Everything seems to be common sense. It's like it was designed by a soldier instead of an engineer. Sorry for the engineers out there.
  13. BTW - that is a great piece of advice Joseph.
  14. Adding some pics to my earlier post.
