Henery Sanford's Johnson 1941

4 posts in this topic

This one appears to be as described: a 99% condition original JSAR complete with bayonet and original manual. IT also comes from the collection of a known firearms authority. As such, it is considered an "investment grade" JSAR. The "high" for one similar at auction a few years ago was $8700. We have not seen these prices recently but apparently the bidders on this one feel it is worth the price.

It is interesting to me that Harry Sanford owned one. I have two AutoMags, and when I got my JSAR and took it apart the first time, all I could think of was how similar the bolt heads looked. Of course, there are only so many ways a multi-lug bolt can look, but I had to wonder if the Johnson rifle was some inspiration for the AutoMag bolt.

$8025! Quality still brings top dollar, even in this economy.
