Here is my recent acquisition Johnson. After initial disassembly, it seem pretty much all original with the exception of the Pachmyer stock pad. During disassembly all parts have minimal wear and appear to have been in place for many years.

Most are aware of the 3 holes under the buttplate. There is also a particular pattern of inletting on the forward face. Also note the letter and number stamped on the face. I have examined many original stocks and have not yet seen the same letter/number combination. I have no idea as to the meaning or significance of these.

Most are aware of the 3 holes under the buttplate. Original stocks also feature a particular inletting on the stock face as well as a number and letter stamped. I have not seen the same combination of letter and number when examining several stocks. I have no idea as to the meaning or significance of this marking. In many cases, the stock face must be scrubbed with a brush and solvent to get these to appear.

This is a photo of a Military Ammunition Chart that was prepared by Johnson Automatics. I thought it was pretty cool. I will try to take a better resolution photo.

    Johnson Featherweight Mauser Conversion #3:

This was the gun my grandfather purchased back in the late 1940's from Johnson Automatics and has been in the family since then. I also acquired a copy of a reprint of the Johnson Custom Gun catalogue for reference as well.
Grandfather ordered it with a 2x scope, the Mauser Peep Sight was included but never used.  Grandfather gave up hunting and passed it to my dad in the late 1960's. In 1971 dad had replaced the original 2X scope with a 3-9X. Also, the original oil rubber walnut stock was replaced with a custom oil rubbed walnut stock (using an identical recoil pad and sling). This gun had a lot of hunting wear and tear over the years......was never a "case queen".

My dad passed back in 2016 and in 2020 I took the gun to Griffin and Howe for a full restoration and put the Peep Sight back on.

I checked with folks at Gunbroker.com and as of 2021 they indicated they had never sold a Johnson Featherweight Mauser conversion. I'm 63 years old and have yet to come across one.
I know Gunbroker in the past has sold a Johnson Mauser conversion just not the signature featherweight with its lightened barrel and muzzle break.

Would like to know if anyone has one or knows someone that does?

Just wanted to share a little history here.........
